There is a famous story in the bible of Jacob wrestling with a “man” where Jacob received a new “name” and calls the place Penuel which means “face of God.” Because of this name, “Face of God,” it’s assumed the “man” who Jacob was wrestling with was an angel of the LORD (AKA angel of YHWH).
